What the heck is APA?
APA citation style refers to the rules and conventions established by the American Psychological Association for documenting sources used in a research paper. It is the only citation style format used at Kendall College.
So, what does that mean?

That means that any information that you use in academic writing other than what is considered "common knowledge" (something the average person knows) needs to be referenced and cited. That includes direct quotations and information that you paraphrase (put in your own words). Remember that academic writing is specific and precise; in other words, you can't make a statement unless you provide evidence for it (or it's common knowledge).
Example of common knowledge: Barack Obama is the President of the United States.
Also, the fact that there are bilingual speakers in the United State is common knowledge. You would not have to cite any sources.
